Ren Zhengfei: Huawei's revenue is expected to fall by $30 billion, guaranteeing no back door.
Ren Zhengfei, founder and CEO of Huawei Company, held a dialogue with two of the "three great thinkers of the digital age" - George Gilder, a famous writer of Forbes and Nicholas Negroponte, a columnist of Wired magazine, on the theme "Technology, Market and Enterprise" at Shenzhen Headquarters on the afternoon of July 17.
Responding to the scene about Huawei's downward sales of smartphones overseas, Ren Zhengfei said: "Huawei's sales in the international market this year dropped by 40%. It is true, but it is growing very fast in the Chinese market."
Ren Zhengfei revealed that according to his previous ideas, he did not realize that the problem was so serious. "We made some preparations, like a rotten airplane. We protected the heart, the fuel tank, and no other minor components. So in the next two years, the company will cut production, we estimate that it will fall by 30 billion dollars, so sales revenue will be around 10 billion dollars this year and next year. But "We are the birds that can't kill", Huawei will revitalize itself in 2021.
Regarding network security, Ren Zhengfei indicated whether Huawei had a back door. Ren Zhengfei explained that "Huawei has taken on 3 billion people to connect. Over the past 30 years, in 170 countries, Huawei's network has proved to be secure, not too paralyzed, and it is secure. Ren Zhengfei said, "Information security can be compared to a pipeline, which is the responsibility of operators, not our responsibility. Huawei only provides"pipeline".
Ren Zhengfei also emphasized that "Huawei has 100% no backdoor, and Huawei can sign agreements with any country without backdoor. But why can't we sign it? Because if these countries put forward, all network equipment providers have to sign this Agreement without a back door, which is difficult to pass. Ren Zhengfei said that after Huawei signed a contract with a country, it showed you the model, "Huawei dares to sign a contract, and guarantees that there is no back door, and it dares to assume this responsibility."
