SMIC International (SMIC) has applied to the United States for continued supply Huawei in accordance with relevant regulations, and reiterates that it will strictly abide by the laws and regulations of relevant countries and regions, according to foreign media reports.

SMIC needs to do so because some of the dedicated machines in the company's chip factory are made by American companies such as Applied Materials (Applied Materials), which is the main source of technology. Although the company now has the equipment, it still needs permission from the US president to use it.

A new US ban on Huawei came into effect yesterday. tsmc, qualcomm, samsung, SK hales, mercantile and other manufacturers will stop supplying Huawei under the ban unless specifically licensed. Companies wishing to continue their business with Huawei must now first obtain a licence from the United States Government.

Apart from SMIC, TSMC, Qualcomm, MediaTek, San'an Integration, Samsung Display, SK Hynix and others have submitted permission applications to the US Department of Commerce. However, the U. S. Department of Commerce has not yet issued a license to supply Huawei to any company.

According to reports, the United States ban poses a serious threat to Huawei. Huawei has said it may not be able to produce kylin chipsets. However, Huawei business is also important to many other companies because it has recently become the world's largest smartphone manufacturer.

As a result of the U. S. ban on TSMC power supply, Huawei Kirin 9000 chip is likely to be a unicorn chip. Previously, Huawei consumer business CEO Yu Chengdong said the company's Kirin chip production will stop on September 15, this year may be the last generation of Kirin high-end chips.

Previously, media reports said Huawei was looking for home-made alternatives, the company could cut maintenance from high-end phones to make cars, OLED drive chips, and develop software and mobile peripheral products.

SMIC and its holding subsidiary are one of the IC wafer manufacturing enterprises, providing 0.35 micron to 14 nanometers of different technology nodes wafer manufacturing and technical services. © 2006-2017 Internet Thinking(Hong Kong) Electronic Co.,Limited(Copyright)
